Q: What is a zine?
A: For the purposes of this project, we define a fanzine or zine as: a collection of fan-created artwork and writing centered around a common theme.
Q: Will there be ships in the zine?
A: There will be no romantic relationships (“ships”) depicted in this zine.
Q: Who is allowed to participate in this zine?
A: Anyone 18+ years old at the time of acceptance is allowed, no zine experience necessary! Having a PayPal account is required for receiving any share of profit as it is the only money transferring app that the Finance Mod uses.
Q: Can I apply to more than one position?
A: Applicants may apply for multiple positions, but will likely be accepted to one position only.
Q: Will this zine contain NSFW works?
A: This zine will be SFW (safe-for-work). It is intended for general audiences, though canon-typical depictions of crime will be allowed at the discretion of the mod team.
Q: Which characters are allowed to be on the zine?
A: The zine will focus on Barok van Zieks, Kazuma Asougi, Gina Lestrade, and Maria Gorey. Herlock Sholmes and Iris Wilson may be considered as part of the investigation team to an extent, but the zine will mostly focus on the initially listed characters. Other characters are welcome to appear as well, but should not be the focus of any given piece for the zine.
Q: Does each zine piece have to center around the characters investigating a case?
A: No, it doesn't have to be strictly investigation/case focused. As long as the piece includes at least one or two of the characters listed, you're free to depict them doing different activities (subject to mod approval).
Q: Will this be a for-profit zine?
A: Yes. This zine is created under an interpretation of "fair use" laws in the United States. By "for profit", if profits allow, we intend to compensate contributors for their time with fully compensated bundles and shipping, and should any additional profits remain, they will be split amongst the contributor team. Contributors should be conscientious that this is not guaranteed to be a significant monetary value.
Q: Where will the zine ship from? Where will it ship to?
A: Should this zine move forward with a physical model, the zine will be shipped from the USA, and will accept international orders. An updated list of countries we will ship to will be provided when pre-orders open.
Q: How many contributors are planned?
A: At this time, anticipated contributor counts will be dependent on results from the interest check, and will be updated accordingly.
